Two days of travel and getting ready for some surf!

Hello Friends,

We are still alive and very much having a great time! Sunday was spend on airplanes and riding the people mover as much as Steve could handle. We first approached it the way most people do, walking straight forward. Nearing the end we were riding it sideways pretending we were in a movie and had just received really bad news... the way they float while walking. Yup, 6 hours in the airport between the two of us proves to be interesting! However, we did stop for some food and our last ever ice cubes for the next 7 weeks!

When we landed in San Jose we caught the craziest cab ever. I'm pretty sure the dude thought we in a video game, but he got us to our hostel safe and sound! I could really learn to love this hostel life. I sat and read a book while a cat curled up on my lap and a dude practiced guitar from one he pulled off the wall.... so chill and awesome!

The next day we took a bus to Jaco... we weren't sure where we were going to stay or how we would find that out. Getting around speaking only English has proved to be interesting. However, on the bus we were going through our phrase book trying to learn "Where is the youth hostel" When this funny little blonde dude starting talking to us... well, he is originally from Seattle and lives above a hostel on the beach in Jaco! Couldn't have worked out better! So we were on board to check his little abode. A couple of hours in to the drive after winding up a jungle road a random bus stop appeared and this Bokenfor/Heise dude walks onto the bus with his curly hair and Kangol hat and I figure we must be just outside of a town... nope, for the next hour-ish we wind back down the jungle roads. We still have no idea where this dude came from but he was clean cut and fairly well dressed... weird! So we make into town and check in to the Rutan Surf Hostel where we left a very important mark...

The beach at Jaco was nice... but the clouds rolled in and we got our very first tropical storm... AWESOME! Steve is now getting much better at rummy.

This morning we left the Jaco beach for something a little whiter and a surf a little stronger.

After a couple shuttles with 4 people from Israel and a 45 minute boat ride across the ocean... thanks for the recommendation Shammy! We are now hear in Mal Pais at the Tranquillo Backpackers hostel where we plan to stay for the next little bit. The funny part about our room 10 is that there is already a Backside sticker on the top of the door frame... looks like this room was meant to be.

Well off to drink another Imperial cerveza and try and win at my own card game!

Surfs up tomorrow!!!

Wendy... and probably Steve too!
